1980年、バンドの屋台骨を支えていたドラマーのジョン・ボーナムが急死したことで、同年の暮れ、ツェッペリンは12年の歴史に幕を閉じた。その2年後に発表された未発表曲集。ジミー・ページが69～78年の録音から選曲、2ndアルバムのセッションで録られたベン・E・キングのカヴァーや、1stアルバム収録曲のリハーサル・テイクなど、貴重な曲が収録されている。多彩な楽曲の中に流れる統一感が何ともツェッペリンらしい。（山口智男）
